Guide styles define the attributes of Guides.

After running the vaGuideStyles command, the Guide Style Manager dialog box will appear. All guide styles are created and edited from this dialog.

New Guide style:

You can create new styles and duplicate existing ones from the Guide Style Manager dialog box.

Delete a guide style:

You can delete guide styles from the guide Style Manager dialog box. You can only delete those styles that are not being used by any existing guide in the model.

General style editing
You can use the vaGuideStyles command or, alternatively,
  • Use the vaStyleProperties command, then select a Guide and press Enter, or
  • Right click on vaStyleProperties (right click), then select a Guide and press Enter, or
  • Select a Guide and open the context menu by pressing the right mouse button for a while then select Guide > Style Properties, or
  • Press Alt, Shift or Ctrl then double click on a Guide object.
The changes applied to a style are applied to all elements with that style.

Edit a Guide style:

Select the guide style from the top left panel and edit its different parameters from the tabs that appear in the right panel.

Attributes

Attributes define the features of each guide style for display and print purposes. The valid attributes are:

  • Layer, Visibility, Text style, Dimension style, Color, Line-type, Line print width, and Line print color.

The attribute Line-type only affects the guide curve. The line-type of the label is always Continuous.

Geometry

  • Snap radius: minimum distance by which objects will snap to the guide and will get linked to it.
  • View: options to define in which viewports the guides will be displayed:
    • Invisible
    • On every level's elevation
    • On CPlane's elevation
  • Draw on top of objects

Label

  • Alignment: text alignment inside the guide label. This parameter can be also defined by object:
    • Horizontal: the text will be oriented along the X axis.
    • Vertical: the text will be oriented along the Y axis.
    • Aligned: the text will be oriented following the guide direction.
  • Text location: defines in which of the two guide labels the text will appear. This parameter can be also defined by object:
    • At both ends: the text and label will appear at both ends of the guide.
    • At curve start: the text and label will appear only at the guide start point.
    • At curve end: the text and label will appear only at the guide end point.
  • Shape: shape of the label boundary:
    1. None
    2. Rounded (capsule)
    3. Rectangular
    4. Hexagonal

Type

  • Type: select the valid object types that can snap to each guide style.
