Roof Styles
Roof styles define the Roof features. For each roof style, you can define the following parameters: Name and Attributes.
Roofs are a composition of slabs, and therefore they are defined by slab styles.
Roof style composed by 2 layers:
- Roof layer A
- Roof layer B
After running the vaRoofStyles command, the roof Style Manager dialog box will appear. All roof styles are created and edited from this dialog.

New Roof style:
Roof styles are created from roof styles. You can create new styles and duplicate existing ones from the different options in the roof Style Manager.
Roof styles can be created as regular roof styles, or as Grasshopper styles (styles driven by a Grasshopper definition).
When clicking on the New Style... button, select one of the two options available, which will create a new roof style or open the Grasshopper style wizard:
- Roof style: a new roof style is created with the default parameters.
- Grasshopper style: follow the steps of the wizard to create a new style from a Grasshopper definition:

Delete a Roof style:
You can delete Roof styles from the Roof Style Manager dialog box. You can only delete those styles that are not being used by any existing Roof (or Slab) in the model.
- Use the vaStyleProperties command, then select a Roof and press Enter, or
- Right click on , then select a Roof and press Enter, or
- Select a Roof and open the context menu by pressing the right mouse button for a while, then select Roof > Style Properties, or
- Press Alt, Shift or Ctrl, then double click on a Roof object.
Edit a Roof style:
Select the Roof style from the top left panel, and edit its corresponding parameters from the tabs that appear in the right panel.
In the case of Grasshopper styles, do right-click on the style name to see the Context menu and select Edit, which will launch the Grasshopper style wizard.
Attributes
Attributes define the features of each Roof style and its layers for display and print purposes. The valid attributes are:
- General: Layer, Visibility and Material.
- Projection: Color, Linetype, Line print width and Line print color.
- Section: Color, Linetype, Line print width, Line print color, Pattern, Pattern scale, Pattern angle and Pattern color.
Geometry
- Edge cut: there are three options available to define the roof edge cut:
- Flat
- Plumb
- Square

The edge cut can be also edited for each roof object individually.
Slopes
This tab indicates which slab style each roof style is using as well as the number of layers and their thicknesses of the slab style.
- Slab style: select the slab style this roof will use. Click on the Edit... button to open the Slab styles Manager and edit the selected slab, or create a new one.
Parameters
In this tab you can create custom parameters by style and assign values by style.
These values can be overwritten by object, from the Parameters section , in the Rhino Properties panel .
Roof Components
Roof components are the layers of the slab styles they use.
To add or delete layers, edit the slab style this roof style is using, from the Edit... button under the Slopes tab.
